Important information when buying a pushchair

Differences in assembly and storage

With the Eos Lux, you convert the carrycot into a seat. The Oxford+ has a separate Sense carrycot that folds compactly. The Fox 5 Renew includes carrycot and seat fabric for the same frame. A complete set does not always mean the carrycot and seat can both stand ready assembled.

Compare the weight and folded dimensions in the configuration in which you want to store the pushchair. The dimensions stated are provided by the manufacturers.

Which rain cover and sun protection fit?

Check the exact model and whether the cover is for the carrycot or seat. An accessory for another pushchair from the same brand does not automatically fit. Also check whether your package already includes a rain cover.

Choose a rain cover with a ventilation opening. In sunshine, do not completely cover the carrycot with a cloth. VeiligheidNL suggests a parasol as one way to provide shade. Keep your baby in view and follow the instructions for the pushchair and accessory.

Walking safely

VeiligheidNL advises against using the carrycot as a permanent sleeping place, covering it completely with a cloth or switching to a pushchair seat before a child can sit independently.

Apply the brake before placing your child in the pushchair or lifting them out. Use the harness in the seat and do not hang a heavy bag from the handlebar.

How to compare models in a shop

Bring the measurements of your car and home. Fold each pushchair yourself, lift it, take it over a threshold and check that both carers can use the handle comfortably. Then ask for a written list of every part included in the package.

Selection criteria and sources

What we look for

  • Measure your car boot, lift, hall and usual storage space before choosing a model.
  • Try the weight, turning circle, brake, handle height and folding mechanism in a shop.
  • Check whether the carrycot, seat, rain cover and car seat adapters are included in the chosen set.
  • Choose wheels and suspension for the surfaces you use most often.
  • Check the usage limits in the instructions and always secure a seated child.
