Important information when buying a changing area
A table or a separate changing space?
The SNIGLAR provides a changing surface and a shelf, but still needs a suitable thin mat. The bébé-jou, Mavis and Matty are mats for another suitable surface. The bébé-jou has foam padding with a wipe-clean surface. You use the Mavis without a fabric cover; the Matty also has a reinforced base. Always check both manuals when combining furniture and a mat.
How do you check whether a pad fits?
Measure the length and width of the usable space and check the maximum pad thickness. Also see whether drawers can open and you can stand close. Raised furniture edges can help prevent the pad from sliding, but you must still stay with your baby.
What do you keep within reach?
Prepare the diaper, cloth and clean clothes beforehand. VeiligheidNL advises always keeping a hand on your baby on a changing table. If you need to leave, put your baby in the crib first. Keep the changing area away from heat sources and cords.
Can you use what you already have?
Separate furniture is not a goal in itself. First assess whether you already have a suitable stable place where a fitting pad is fully supported and everything is within reach. Never use a separate table as a place to leave your baby lying unattended.
Best changing areas: which suits your family?
If you are looking for a separate table, the SNIGLAR provides a changing surface and storage shelf, with a thin mat to be chosen separately. If you only need a mat for another suitable place, compare the bébé-jou, the Mavis without a fabric cover and the Matty with a reinforced base. Measure first; this table and these mats do not belong together in one set.
