Important information when buying wash mitts and muslin cloths

Differences in size and use

The flannels measure 15 by 20 cm and fit over your hand. The muslin cloths measure 70 by 70 cm and the feeding cloths 31 by 31 cm. Both the larger and smaller cloths can be used to mop up spilled milk, for example. Consider which sizes you use and how often you do laundry.

Start with what you use

An existing soft cotton cloth is also an option. After washing, check for fraying and hard edges. Do not automatically replace a whole set because the print has faded.

Keep loose cloths out of the bed and remove a used cloth before your baby goes to sleep.

Best wash mitts and cloths: which suit you?

The Jollein wash mitts fit over your hand. The Meyco cloths are larger for drying or covering your shoulder. The Jollein feeding cloths are small for feeds. Their uses overlap, so start with the sizes you actually use.

Selection criteria and sources

What we look for

  • Compare both the number of items and their dimensions.
  • Check the material and washing instructions on the label.
  • Start with a small supply and add more once you know what you use.
  • Choose a cloth that feels comfortable; a higher price or busy print does not automatically make it softer.
